so many letters, so few pics

i read a great quote from bono today when he was asked if he is a christian, then why doesn't his music proclaim christ?
his response"
does nature scream the name of christ? does a tree?

ironically, i love that this question was asked of him at the National Prayer Breakfast.!!!

the Q & A made me think about how in this world, sometimes there is more to learn about God, life, ....everything, from people that make no mention of Christ then there is from those that go out of their way to let you know that they are a christian.

if you show people something, good, something pure, true ....right. i believe eventually they will seek truth. for me personally, i believe God to be that truth. but regardless, it might start with a beautiful sunset, or a kind gesture performed for no reward, but that kind of image sticks with a person and can be the seed that makes someone start to question everything around them.

i love this sick, crazy world we live in. there is so much to sit back and laugh at, love, live for and just plain enjoy!

my mind is a little all over the place as i write this so i am sorry if this comes out very uninspired, or boring. i'm just trying to keep to my promise of a weekly post.

as for what i am listening to and watching recently:

movies: (theatre)
lady in the water :i am convinced that Rie and I are the only 2 people on the planet that liked this movie, but i am not ignorant as to why people dislike it. basically, if you liked Nights' movie The Village, then you will like this. if you are hoping for signs or 6th sense, keep lookin!

clerks II: loved it. it's crazy to think that a movie that has a donkey show and the most bizarre conversation about "pillow pants" can also put me into a very unsafe place of emotion that makes me rethink where it is i truley want to go in this life.

movies (dvd)
i just had my dream come true and marie bought me the newly released The Adventures of Brisco County Jr. starring
Bruce Campbell. i can't type enough to tell you how long i've been waiting for this.

also i got the box set for Freaks and Geeks. boy does it get me mad to realize how much crap is allowed to stay on the air while all the shows that dare to be different and wonderfull don't meet the multi-million viewer ratings and are pulled. please check this one out.

as far as music goes, i have been on a steady diet of Angels & Airwaves, Alanis Morissette, The Cranberries, and Toad the Wet Sprocket. oh yeah and this wonderful artist that i can't get off of my mind and out of my ear: marie sheldon.

forgive me, since i switched to a mac there are a few things that i haven't mastered yet, one of which is how to make a link to a website! some of these options are'nt on obvious display the way they were with the old crappy PC.

take care and see ya soon

God made this world, filled it, and then put us in it to live. I am surprised sometimes how often some Christians think only "religious" and supposedly Christ-things are the only important, interesting, worthwhile things in this world. God made trees - yet trees don't "preach" a sermon. God made music, and granted some music needs help, but there's a lot of non-religious music that is . . . wonderful. I remember when B.J. Thomas became a Christian, and sang Christian songs. Christians said how wonderful his music was. Someone said to me, don't you just love his (Christian) music. I said - - I loved his music before he became a Christian. They thought I was weird. Yet he had the same voice before and after, the same inflections in his voice, the same range. The reverse happened to Amy Grant. Some Christians thought it was terrible that she sang non-Christian songs. Yet, a gal I met said she listened to Amy Grant's Christian records BECAUSE she had heard her secular songs, and really liked them. So, you are very right to say, everyday things can, and do, lead us to God.

Thanks for the encouraging words buddy. Sometimes it's nice to see others pick out the observations we should be coming across ourselves.

Oh and I have to say wow to the music list. Holy 11th grade dance Batman. I mean The Cranberries and Toad the Wet Sprockett. Most excellent. I must now go home and break into my Seven Mary Three and Blind Melon collections!

Beautiful. Amen. Such clarity spews forth from your fingers, Brother Dornan. I have gotten to the point where I eschew all 'wearing-on-sleeveness' of Christianity. It does not work for me. I wish I no longer had the silver fishy on my car. Interesting that you bring all this up, because on Sunday we were amongst a sizeable chunk of the Great and Mighty Mikrut Extended Family, and some relatives had been very put off by another relative's assertions that all Catholics are 'lost' because they are all Christmas and Easter types and everyone at HIS church (read: not Catholic) goes to church EVERY Sunday...and I sit there and think of Grandma Mikrut, the most faithful woman I have ever seen...she goes to mass all the time. She has a huge flock and tends to it in such a remarkable way. She has the priest bless the food for Easter (and puts toothpick crosses in it so that we know which plate of kielbasa is the blessed one)...Christ's light EXUDES from this woman, but you will never hear her preaching. Her humility, grace, and reverence is beautiful. I have to say, this other individual talks about God a whole lot more than her, but...yeah. I need not say more.

Let us all hang out soon, friend. Tell Rie that we're sorry we can't make it to the hunt...we both, unfortunately, have separate out of town commitments, not to mention a slew of birthdays, and by then we will also have a new niece/goddaughter! Hurrah!
