random tech support

so as i was cleaning up the computer desk i found a scrap paper with some bizarre sentences written on it. it took me a second but i soon remembered that it was something i had said to marie and she thought it was funny and told me to blog about it. i said i didn't want to right then and for her to write it down and i would get to it later.....well......it's later enought that i forgot about it!

basically as best as i can remember, i had to call a customer service line for issues with our DSL service and the guy was everything BUT helpful. when we established that our signal would just drop (which took forever for him to grasp) he had me send him an email to make sure that my email wasn't blocking friendly emails???? what does that have to do with anything? this was just one example of the worthlessness of this phone call. and afterwards rie asked how it went. i told her that i would tell them about one problem and he would give me answers TOTALLY unrelated. i said :

"it's like i called the manufacturer of my toaster and said 'no matter what setting i have my toaster set for it continuously burns my toast. what can you do?"

and their response was
" well, do you have any cracks in your driveway"

it might not sound funny now, but i was so fed up with the randomness of this guys trouble shooting that it was pretty amusing at the time.....trust me ;-)

I get the service person that has a list of questions to ask - - that no matter what I've already told him/her, they have to ask. Like the toaster example, the person would ask: what color is the toaster? Evidently color made a difference on it's effectiveness. I feel your pain. :)

Ah, the joy of tech support and random memories that pop up unannounced. You are truly blessed my friend.
